Hominin taxonomy (how we decide to name and categorize fossil hominin remains) is often a surprisingly difficult and contentious process. In this open access article, I examine species concepts and taxonomy debates within paleoanthropology. I then review the evidence for the recently discovered hominin species, ‘homo luzonensis’.
